Types of Membership and Requirements - there are 3 types

  • Affiliate                   Dues:  $275 for CFAI & $180 for CFAH annually

Requirements for Affiliate membership include a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or have equivalent education or work experience, and one year of acceptable work experience. Acceptable work experience is defined as a professional position within the financial services industry. Learn more regarding work experience requirements.

Please note that the twelve months of acceptable work experience required for Affiliate Society membership are not as stringent as that required for the ultimate award of the CFA Charter.

  • Regular                  Dues:  $275 for CFAI & $180 for CFAH annually

  • Retired  - Affiliate and Regular                 Dues $100 for CFAI & $85 for CFAH annually

Need a Sponsor?

  • If you do not know any CFAH members, there are people who have volunteered to serve as sponsors. Click here  for a list of potential Houston sponsors that can be contacted.
  • Please do not contact potential sponsors until after you have begun the online apllication process, and have received and email from CFA Institute that you will them forward to the relevant sponsors. This simplifies the process and prevents any unforeseen delays.

Already a Member?

  •  Find out how to manage your membership by accessing www.cfainstitute.org, log in and then click on the "MY CFA" tab.
  • Access "Manage Account", then "Member Status", and you can access the links for adding/dropping Societies, upgrading your membership, changing to Retired status, and reactivating a membership. 
  • Membership year runs July 1st through June 30th.  Dues notices will be sent out starting in May each year.
