RESULTS OF THE TEXAS COMPETITION

University of Houston Takes 3rd in Global Challenge

UH advanced through the North American Regional Competition to place 3rd at the Global finale in New York City, May 1, 2008.   The team was one of two from the North American Regional Competition, held on April 30th, to go to the global competition.  UH competited against teams from the Asian, European, and New York Regions in addition to the other regional winner, University of New Brunswick.  To see pictures of the winners, link to the Nasdaq website.  Congratulations to the University of Houston team, consisting of Joe Corkin, Mauricio Franco, John Keeton and Quyen Nguyen.

The winner of the Investment Research Challenge - Texas this year is the University of Houston team.   Our sincere congratulations!  Both teams did an exceptional job.  The judges and the societies want to thank each of the members of both teams, UH and UT Austin for a very tight competition.  You made the judges' job difficult, but this just made for a better competition.  And each one of the judges is happy to give your teams feedback you can share with your schools, advisors, mentors for this and future years.

The winning team from the University of Houston was comprised of Joe Corkin, Mauricio Franco, John Keeton and Quyen Nguyen.  They will receive 100% of their next level of the CFA exam paid for.  The UH team will also move forward to the Regional Competition to be held this year in New York City on April 30th.  For coming in second, University of Texas at Austin team members will receive 50% of their next level of the CFA exam paid for by Investment Research Challenge - Texas. 

Again, both organizers Leah Bennett and Sharon Criswell want to thank everyone but especially both teams for their knowledge, their hard work and their commitment to Investment Research Challenge - Texas and we look forward to welcoming them in the future as our colleagues in the investment management business.
