Event Topic - "The Role of Commodities in Investment Portfolios"
Incorporating collateralized commodity futures into a portfolio can provide investors attractive return opportunities with risks that have historically tended to be negatively correlated to large-cap stocks and high quality bonds. These increased diversification characteristics have also been positively correlated to unexpected inflation, providing investors with improved purchasing power protection. And as emerging economies continue to industrialize, it remains likely they will need additional amounts of inputs – creating opportunities for commodity prices to appreciate. In establishing commodity futures exposures, an active management approach taking advantage of the behavioral and structural inefficiencies may offer investors the most rewarding approach.

Speaker - Kevin Dachille | Investment Director – Commodities | OFI Institutional Asset Management
Kevin works with the Commodities Team articulating their investment policy, strategy and performance to existing and prospective institutional clients. He has been involved in institutional investment management for over 30 years. Prior to joining the firm in 2005, Kevin was the fixed income director at the National Railroad Retirement Investment Trust. Previously, he was a senior vice president who chaired the Investment Policy Committee at Mercantile-Safe Deposit & Trust Company, while also serving as a bond portfolio manager at Mercantile Capital Advisors. Kevin received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.S. in Finance from Loyola College in Maryland.
